The Sri Lankan team left the island this morning (10) to participate in the Under-19 (Youth) Asia Cup cricket tournament to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
The team, led by Wimat Dinsarada of Royal College, Colombo, will be led by Kavija Gamage of Kingswood College, Kandy.
It is reported that Himal Ravihansa, a leg-spinner from Joseph Vaas College, Wennappuwa, has been called up to the team as Kugathas Mathulan of St. John’s College, Jaffna, who was named in the preliminary squad due to an injury, has been rested.
Sri Lanka will compete in Group B against Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal in this tournament. Sri Lanka’s first match is scheduled to be played against Nepal on December 13.
India, Pakistan, Malaysia and the hosts UAE are the teams representing Group A.
