Pakistan has reportedly withdrawn its decision to boycott the T20 World Cup match against India. Pakistan has taken this decision in deference to a request made by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Accordingly, the match is scheduled to be held as expected on February 15 at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
President Anura Dissanayake, who acted immediately upon learning that Pakistan was boycotting the match against India, held a special telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Following the conversation held yesterday afternoon, Pakistan has expressed its agreement to play the match.
President Anura Dissanayake, in a post on his official X account, stated that he will never forget the support Pakistan and India provided to Sri Lanka in preserving cricket during the 1996 World Cup as well as when Sri Lanka was suffering from terrorism.
Accordingly, as planned, the Indo-Pakistan clash, one of the most exciting matches of the World Cup, will be watched in Sri Lanka.
