Sri Lankan flight UL 306, which departed from Katunayake to Singapore yesterday (05) evening, made an emergency landing at Medan Airport in Indonesia due to a technical fault.
After an Indonesian technical team inspected the aircraft and informed that it would take time to rectify the fault, Sri Lankan authorities in the country have decided to keep the passengers in hotel rooms until then.
However, a crisis situation had emerged when the Indonesian authorities did not allow the passengers to stay in hotel rooms and it was reported that the problem had been resolved with the intervention of the Sri Lankan ambassador in the country.
Meanwhile, a Sri Lankan technical team had left for Indonesia on a plane that had departed for Jakarta this morning (06) to inspect the Sri Lankan flight that had suffered a technical fault.
Another plane is scheduled to depart at 1:45 pm today to take the passengers of the faulty plane to their destinations.
