The Sri Lanka-Afghanistan first Twenty20 match was held today at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium and the Sri Lankan team was able to win the match by 4 runs.
After winning the toss, the Afghanistan captain invited the Sri Lankan team to bat first.
Accordingly, the Sri Lankan team that entered the field managed to score 160 runs after 19 overs.
The Afghanistan team was able to take the first wicket of the Sri Lankan team within 7 runs. That was when Pathum Nissanka was out for 6 runs due to a ball directed by Farooqi.
The bowlers of the Afghanistan team were able to take the first three wickets of the Sri Lankan team in 48 runs.
Captain Vanindu Hasaranga, who took the responsibility of raising the scoreboard of the Sri Lankan team, who engaged in a valuable batting, managed to collect 67 runs in 32 balls.
In batting, Sadira Samarawickrama scored 25 runs and Dhananjaya de Silva scored 24 runs for the Sri Lankan team.
In bowling, Farooqi took 3 wickets, Naween – UL 2 wickets and Omarzai 2 wickets for the Afghanistan team. Noor and Janat also shared one wicket each.
Accordingly, the Afghanistan team, which entered the field in pursuit of a winning target of 161 runs, could collect only 156 runs after losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.
Captain Ibrahim Zadran , who played a valuable batting role for the Afghanistan team, managed to score 67 runs. In the last few overs, the match could be seen turning into a match between Sedan and Sri Lanka.
