Sri Lanka signs security pact with US .

In a significant step taken to enhance bilateral security cooperation between the United States and Sri Lanka, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the Ministry of Defence on (November 14).

The U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Ms. Julie Chung, and Brigadier General Trenton Gibson, Acting General of the Montana National Guard, signed the MoU on behalf of the United States Government, and the Secretary of Defense, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuiyakontha (Retd.), signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka.

This MoU strengthens cooperation between the Montana National Guard, the 13th District Division of the United States Coast Guard, and the Sri Lanka Armed Forces under the U.S. Department of Defense’s Government Partnership Program.
