Sri Lanka finished second in the South Asian Athletics Championships that concluded yesterday (26) in Ranchi, India. Sri Lanka missed out on the top spot in the medal tally by a margin of 4 gold medals.
Sri Lanka won 40 medals with 16 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze. India, which won 20 gold medals, topped the medal tally, and also won 20 silver and 18 bronze.
However, apart from Sri Lanka and India, no other country could win a gold medal.
In particular, except for Nepal, which won 02 silver medals, no other country had a chance to win even a silver medal.
Bangladesh won 3 bronze medals and Maldives won 1 bronze medal, while Bhutan failed to win a single medal. Nearly 60 athletes representing Sri Lanka participated in this tournament.
