The United States has offered to import 70% to 80% of Sri Lanka’s exports without imposing any tariffs, said Deputy Minister of Economic Development Professor Anil Jayantha Fernando.
Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump decided to impose reciprocal tariffs on countries based on existing trade deficits. He said that this agreement has emerged during the ongoing discussions between Sri Lanka and the US.
Deputy Minister of Economic Development Anil Jayantha Fernando said that Sri Lanka is also discussing the possibility of imposing 0% tariffs on goods imported from the US.
Speaking during the “Ada Derana Big Focus” program held today (17), Deputy Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando said this. He emphasized that the details of the agreement reached with the United States of America cannot be disclosed yet as negotiations regarding tariff concessions have not yet been concluded.
