MP Gayantha Karunathilaka today officially announced that they expects to form an alliance between the United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) to contest the local government elections.
“The two parties had previously agreed to conduct talks as a long-term plan targeting the next national election, but the parties have been forced to accelerate the talks targeting the upcoming local government elections,” he told media representatives.
The two parties have held four rounds of talks, but he added that several more rounds of talks are needed to reach an agreement.
