It is reported that the car that collided with a bus carrying tourists and a car at Marine Drive last night was driven by retired Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne. He has been arrested by the Wellawatta Police for causing an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The police said that the accident occurred when the Senior DIG’s vehicle collided with another car before it collided with a tourist bus, and police sources stated that the Senior DIG was drunk at the time of the accident. The arrested Senior DIG is to be produced before the Magistrate’s Court of Mt. Lavinia . No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
