Semini Iddamalgoda released on bail

Colombo Additional Magistrate Bandara Ilangasinghe ordered the release on bail of actress Semini Iddamalgoda, who was arrested despite warrants being issued in connection with several cases of money laundering

The suspect was arrested by the Welikada Police and produced before the court yesterday (11).

The police stated before the court that seven warrants have been issued against the suspect by the court for running a private security company and defaulting on payments including the Employees Provident Fund.

The police further stated that four warrants have been issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, two warrants by the Matara Magistrate’s Court and one warrant by the Tangalle Magistrate’s Court.

The lawyers appearing for the suspect stated before the court that the money related to some of the cases had already been paid by their employer and that the cases had been withdrawn by the Department of Labor.

Considering the facts presented, Colombo Additional Magistrate Bandara Ilangasinghe ordered the suspect to be released on a surety bond of Rs. 100,000 each.

Accordingly, the Magistrate also ordered the suspect to submit the payment reports related to the four complaints filed before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to the court on the 19th.
