Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that Sanath Weerasinghe alias “Puwak Dandawe Sana”, who is currently under arrest on charges of bringing drugs, is a strong supporter of the JVP.
Expressing further views, he said that he is the one who distributes drugs to the Hambantota district and that he was arrested earlier but the police had to release him due to the influence of JVP supporters. Addressing the media in Colombo today, he said.
Sanath Weerasinghe is a very close person of the JVP, and he supports the party in every way, is a spender and he is the one who provides lunch or dinner and provides full support when the JVP leader comes to meetings in that area, Weerawansa said. He said that a friend of his named Umesh is also assisting in this food preparation.
He said that it has been clearly revealed that he has been using his boats to bring drugs into the country in bulk, and the police have been forced to arrest him once again due to pressure from social media.
