Former UNP MP Saman Ratnapriya responds to Deputy Minister Susil Ranasinghe’s statement yesterday that it was the current President Anura Dissanayake who restructured Sri Lanka’s debt and that Ranil Wickremesinghe was unable to do so.
He says that the current President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa fled the moment they were invited to rebuild the country, and that it was former President Ranil Wickremesinghe who rebuilt the country at such a time.
He further commented,
“We saw Deputy Minister Susil Ranasinghe yesterday saying that they took over a bankrupt country. He also says that Ranil Wickremesinghe was not able to restructure the debt. He says that Anura Kumara Dissanayake restructured that debt. It is not clear whether he is saying this verbally or from where else.
Either this Deputy Minister has no knowledge. Either he is deliberately lying. The people of the country know, the world knows, the international community knows. Who rescued this country when it fell. It is not a secret who took over when Anura Kumara and Sajith fled. Ranil Wickremesinghe rescued the country. He restructured the debt. The country knows, the world knows how much Ranil Wickremesinghe worked hard to get oil and gas…”
