It has been confirmed that the support of Sri Lanka Freedom Party Senior Vice President, MP Angajan Ramanathan, and the party’s former Acting General Secretary, Sarathi Dushmantha, will be given to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is contesting as an independent candidate in this year’s presidential election.
Earlier today, the two Sri Lanka Freedom Party leaders met with Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Election Operation Office on Flower Road, joining forces to help him win the upcoming presidential election.
Sri Lanka Freedom Party Vice President Angajan Ramanathan was first elected as a member of the Northern Provincial Council in 2013, representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. He was elected to Parliament for the first time as a National List member in 2015 and later contested from the Jaffna district in the 2020 general election, securing his second term in Parliament. He currently serves as a Senior Vice President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and also holds the position of Deputy Committee Chairman in Parliament.
Sarathi Dushmantha Mitrapala was elected to Parliament for the first time from the Kegalle district in the 2015 parliamentary elections. He previously served as the Acting Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and is currently a Central Committee member of the party.
