According to police sources, a person involved in the distribution of drugs with strong political connections was arrested in Rambukkana during the “Ukthiya” anti-narcotics operation under the instructions of Acting Inspector General of Police Deshbandhu Tennakoon.
These sources further say that this person works as a constituency organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawega in Kurunegala district, and at the time of his arrest, he was in possession of nearly a kilo of heroin.
The police said that there is information that this person has led a drug network in Kegalle and Kurunegala districts.
