Rohitha Abeygunawardena joins unregistered high capacity motorcycle rally to support Ranil

According to the report, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Member of Parliament Rohitha Abeygunawardena was riding an unregistered high capacity motorcycle in Kalutara l Its a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act report says.

It is said that he is doing this motorcycle ride to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. The MP along with several other motorcyclists have riding a high capacity motorcycle from Wadiamankada to Kalutara town for a distance of 2 km.

According to the Motor Transport Act, unregistered vehicles cannot be driven in the market unless they have a garage/dealer’s plate or a temporary permit for inspection, registration purposes or customs clearance.

Member of Parliament Abeygunawardena discussed with the Minister of Transport for the registration of motorcycles with high engine capacity. Applications were submitted for motorcycle registration from 450 cc to 1300 cc. An agreement has been reached for the registration of high capacity motorcycles subject to a special fee, but it has not been approved by the cabinet as yet.
