Iran’s new spiritual leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, said that revenge will be taken for the blood of those who sacrificed their lives for Iran.
Speaking further, he said that the Strait of Hormuz would be closed and that attacks would be launched on American bases. He warned that the United States must close all its bases in the region. Otherwise, Iran would shut down the Strait of Hormuz, which runs along Iran’s coast and carries about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply.
Reports say that the war, which began at the end of February following bombing attacks by the United States and Israel, has so far killed about 2,000 people.
He made this statement in a television address for the first time since the killing of his father, Ali Khamenei.
