The swearing-in ceremony of the new President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muisu, was held in Malehi yesterday, and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who participated in it, extended his warm greetings to the President of the Maldives.
According to foreign media, more than 3000 guests, including leaders of neighboring countries, were invited to participate in this event.
New President Muizu, in his inaugural address, pledged to respect “any other country’s security red line”. He emphasized that the Indian Ocean archipelago has a “thick red line” when it comes to security.
Maldives maintains close ties with India and exerts a decisive influence on its security. But the new President Muisu follows a strong pro-China stance and will not try to develop the relations with India further, according to local sources.
