Ranil to appear before Bribery Commission.

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is scheduled to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption this morning.

This is to give a statement in connection with an investigation into alleged misuse of state funds by MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, who is currently remanded, when he was the Chief Minister of the Uva Provincial Council.

Ranil Wickremesinghe was informed to appear before the Bribery Commission on April 17, but was informed that he would not be able to appear on that day. He was subsequently summoned by the Commission on April 25, but he stated that he would not be able to appear on that day also, and that he would be able to appear today, the 28th.
