Ranil Wickramasinghe said to the people of Akkareipattua town in the east that they should think about the race while voting in the presidential election while declaring that if he becomes the president next month, he will treat all the races of the country equally.
“When you cast your vote in this presidential election, don’t think about me, think about your future,” the president said while addressing the 20th conference of the National Congress led by MP ALM Ataullah.
“I will treat Sinhalese, Muslim and Tamil people equally. Injustice was done to the Muslim people of this country through forced burials during the epidemic. I apologized for this even though my government did not do it. It was done by another government. So we want to apologize. We are also ready to provide compensation to the Muslims affected by forced burials. I call on Minister Ali Sabri to enact legislation to guarantee a person’s right to decide how their last rights should be fulfilled,” he said.
