Former Governor Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon has filed a petition before the Colombo District Court seeking an order to recover Rs. 100 million each from Minister Samantha Vidyaratne and the Independent Television Service for the defamation he suffered.
Minister Samantha Vidyaratne, the Independent Television Service and its Chairman have been named as respondents in the complaint. Petitioner Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon states in his complaint that Minister Samatha Vidyaratne insulted him during a presentation made regarding a land in the Haldummulla area and that the statement was broadcast on the Independent Television Service.
For this, the court is requested to issue an order to recover compensation of Rs. 100 million each from Minister Samantha Vidyaratne and the Independent Television Service.
