It is reported that freshmen at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura are currently facing a very inhumane raging
Although the Faculty of Management has provided a hostel for freshmen as a solution to this , it is reported that they are being forcibly detained in a hostel with senior students instead of allowing them to enter the hostel.
It is also reported that a group of senior students are pressuring the Vice-Chancellor to close the hostel for first-year students at the Faculty of Arts and assign them to the hostel with senior students.
A senior lecturer at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura said that a freshman was attacked in a clash that broke out due to a rag incident and that he has suffered a severe eye injury and is receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Hospital.
The senior professor further stated that many lecturers at the University of Jayewardenepura are deeply concerned about this inhumane ragging.
