Protesters write to President seeking relief

A letter has been sent to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, requesting that justice be served to those accused of the 2022 Struggle.

The letter, signed by civil society representatives and lawyers, points out that 11 people died during the protests, but compensation has been provided to only a select few.

Families who have not received any justice are facing severe hardships, and the letter also states that these families are not receiving adequate support.

The letter to the President also states that 709 investigations have been conducted in connection with the protest movement, and steps have been taken to arrest thousands of people.
