Meanwhile, the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association, which has expressed its views on the bus fare revision, says that it expects a minimum 15% increase in bus fares. The association points out that the price of diesel was increased with effect from midnight yesterday (21), which is a 31% increase.
The National Transport Commission says that the calculations for the bus fare revision are currently underway and accordingly, the fare revision will be carried out today (22).
