Principals ignore Prime Minister’s orders.

Education Minister Harini Amarasuriya says that despite the Ministry of Education instructing government schools not to collect money from parents, complaints are still being received that money is being collected.

However, she said that prompt action will be taken against schools and principals who collect money in this way. She also said that the investigation units of the ministries will be strengthened as there are no investigation officers to investigate the complaints received in this regard.

The Prime Minister made this statement while addressing a function held in the Hambantota area.
