Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya said that a case has been filed against her for stepping on a flower pot.
Addressing Parliament today, she made these comments, recalling a protest held at the Polduwa Junction on Women’s Day last year.
“I remember March 8 last year. Our female MPs, including the members here, were subjected to water cannons during a protest at Polduwa.
I came to Parliament that day and suffered the water cannons. A case was filed against us for stepping on a flower pot. That case is still being heard. Even when I was Prime Minister, I was asked to answer for it. It is through that struggle that we also came here.
