President says rice will be imported from abroad this year too

This year, a plan was made not to import a single grain of rice from abroad, but unfortunately it rained during cultivation and harvesting, President Anura Dissanayake said. Therefore, a certain amount of rice will have to be imported from abroad this year too, he said.

The President said that the compensation received for a house in the Sewanagala area that was burned during the May 9, 2022 uprising was not the owner of the land and the house, but a person named Rajapaksa, and that information regarding this will be revealed soon.

He said this while addressing a local government election rally of the National People’s Power held in Buttala.
