It is reported that Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara, who completed his term on the Binara Poya Day that fell yesterday, has been appointed as the acting Diyawadana Nilame until the new Diyawadana Nilame is appointed.
This appointment was made by the Department of Buddhist Affairs on the recommendation of the Chief Prelates of both the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters.
Acting Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara is contesting for the post of Diyawadana Nilame this time too and many parties say that the recommendation as the acting Diyawadana Nilame shows that he has the support of the Chief Prelates.
