Sri Lanka Customs sources say that 3,500 metric tons of Ponni Samba rice have been imported into the island to address the shortage of Kiri Samba rice in the local market.
The first batch of Ponni Samba rice arrived in the island on the 23rd.
Cabinet approval was given to import GR 11 Ponni Samba rice from the 15th to address the shortage of Kiri Samba rice in the local market.
