Police statement on Audi sister

The police have issued a press release regarding a video shared on social media of a woman obstructing a police officer in the course of his duties. The statement is as follows.

A video is currently circulating on social media of a woman obstructing police duties by mentioning the name of a Senior DIG of the Sri Lanka Police and claiming that the woman is the sister of the Senior DIG in question, while a car was stopped by police officers for a traffic offence.

The incident related to this video clip occurred on 31.10.2025 on the Kotugoda-Udugampola road in the Gampaha Police Division. When a woman driving a car signaled to stop for a traffic violation, she continued to drive the car without stopping. Later, when the traffic officers chased the car and stopped it in the Udugampola area and inspected it, she behaved as follows.

Thereafter, from this location, the woman continued to drive the car regardless of police orders. The vehicle was stopped at the Polwatta Junction in the Minuwangoda Police Division, and the suspect was arrested at that time and presented to the Gampaha Police Station.

The statement made by the suspect as the sister of a Senior DIG of the Sri Lanka Police is completely false and no such relationship has been revealed.

Accordingly, the suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court today, 01.11.2025, on charges of dangerous driving, reckless driving, disregarding police signals, criminal force and impersonating another person.
