The Siripura Police recently succeeded in arresting a person who was dismembering and burying the body of a dead elephant behind a house in the Siripura Ran Kethgama area belonging to the Mahaweli C region.
According to the police, an elephant died last Saturday night after getting tangled in an electric wire that had been drawn illegally in a garden in Rankethgama village. The owner, who saw the dead elephant, has been cutting the body of the dead elephant with an automatic saw and burying the parts to hide the death of the elephant.
According to the police, a pit was dug next to the house in the garden, and while the parts of the legs were being put into it and the remaining parts were being dumped, the police were able to immediately go to the place and arrest the suspect.
