According to the report, a special meeting of party leaders in the Parliament has been called today (20). Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapakse says that the meeting is scheduled to be held today at 12 noon and the purpose of this meeting is to discuss the current situation of the COP committee.
The deputy speaker added that it will be discussed whether the current COP committee will be continued or whether it will be dissolved and new members will be appointed for it.
In a speech, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed Parliament last Friday that the meetings of the COPE Committee have been suspended until further notice in view of the protest raised by the opposition regarding the conduct of the COPE Committee Chairman Professor Ranjith Bandara during the Sri Lanka Cricket investigation.
