Sri Lanka Customs has recommended the re-export of five containers of imported salt for failing to meet national quality standards.
Customs sources said that the decision was taken after an inspection confirmed that the five containers of salt did not meet the standards certification conditions.
About 2,000 containers of salt have been imported under the import license, however, the import will officially end on July 10, Customs said.
Customs spokesperson Seevali Arukgoda stated that all containers of salt brought into the country will undergo strict quality checks.
