The Government Pharmacists Association has alleged that many important documents of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) have been destroyed. Its president Thushara Ranadeva told the media that NMRA CEO Dr. Vijith Gunasekara had intervened to destroy these documents.
Thushara Ranadeva said that the Chief Executive Officer had gone to the NMRA premises last night and had removed some files there. It is reported that the NMRA CEO has been asked to resign but he has refused to resign and continues to remain in office.
NMRA former president and current CEO Dr. Vijith Gunasekara has been accused of inflowing substandard drugs.
