Nilgala Forest to be declared a reserve.

The Ministry of Environment states that the Nilgala Forest, which is spread over the Ampara and Monaragala districts, will be officially declared a reserve tomorrow (2).

The Nilgala Forest, which covers an area of ​​40,683 hectares, consists of four forest conservation areas namely Medagama, Bibila, Nilgala and Inginiyagala. The main forest conservation area is the Bibila site.

This event is scheduled to be held tomorrow (2) morning at the Rathugala Indigenous Peoples Heritage Center in Bibila under the patronage of Environment Minister Dr. Dhammika Patabendi.

The Ministry of Environment has implemented a series of programs in conjunction with World Environment Day, which falls on June 5th. Under it, a National Environment Week has been announced, and tomorrow, the fourth day of which, has been named Biodiversity Conservation Day.
