The police say they will take strict action against the increasing trend of youths participating in illegal motorcycle races on the roads at night.
The police also say that if there are reports of deaths or injuries during such races, the people involved will be charged with murder and attempted murder under the Traffic Act and the Penal Code.
Last year, illegal street motorcycle races organized through social media and conducted by betting were held on several coastal roads and main roads in the country.
This dangerous trend of youths participating in traffic violations has continued to grow this year, raising serious concerns among the authorities and the public.
Several incidents of accidents involving these youths as well as other road users due to such races have been reported in the past
