The investigation into allegations that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe misused state funds during a trip to attend his wife’s graduation ceremony at the University of Wolverhampton in England has been placed under the direct supervision of Solicitor General Viraj Dayaratne. He is the head of the Crime Division of the Attorney General’s Department.
Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris is currently leading the investigation into the case involving the former president.
However, it is learnt that the Criminal Investigation Department has not yet submitted extracts from the investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department team that went to the United Kingdom as part of the investigation.
