Nazmul Hossain to lead Bangladesh in Sri Lanka tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced a 16-member squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Nazmul Hossain Shanto has been named as the captain.

The series will be Bangladesh’s opening tournament in the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das, who missed the previous series due to injury, has been recalled to the squad. Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain, who last played international cricket in July 2023, has also been recalled. Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad and right-arm pacer Nahid Rana have also been recalled.

The squad that participated in the recent Test series against Zimbabwe has been left out with spinner Tanvir Islam, fast bowler Tansim Hasan Shakib and opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy.

The first Test between the two countries will be played in Galle from June 17 and the second match is scheduled to begin in Colombo on June 25. The Bangladesh team will leave for Sri Lanka on June 13.
