The removal of plastic solid waste and garbage dumped by devotees into the Nuwara Wewa after the “Siri Dalada wandana” is underway with the assistance of the Navy.
The Nuwara Wewa cleaning program organized by the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat was held on the 28th.
Accordingly, officials of the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, the Department of Irrigation and Archaeology, the public and the Sri Lanka Navy joined hands to clean the Nuwara Wewa to prevent the threat that plastic and other wastes may pose to water sources and aquatic life due to the presence of plastic in the Nuwara Wewa.
