No matter what the government says, the Ministry of Justice has become the most politicized under the current government, and it is a serious wrong precedent to take disciplinary action against magistrates of lower courts and transfer them based on the complaints of the IGP, said MP Namal Rajapaksa.
He said this while participating in the committee debate on the Ministry of Justice expenditure head held in Parliament today (17).
The MP pointed out that if the police, as the complainant, feels that a judge has given a wrong decision, the remedy is not to transfer the judge but to appeal the decision to a higher court.
Namal Rajapaksa further said that due to such sudden transfers made on the pretext of disciplinary reasons, even the admission of the children of judges to schools has become a serious problem.
