Colombo Additional Magistrate Kasun Kanchana Dasarathna yesterday (21) ordered the case filed by an air hostess against famous cricketer Chamika Karunaratne, demanding that he marry her or else pay maintenance for her child, to be taken up on December 8.
She had informed the court in her complaint that she had maintained a relationship with cricketer Chamika Karunaratne with the hope of marriage and that as a result she had a child with him.
She said that he had promised to marry her but he did not get engaged to her and that he later abandoned her and the child. She has filed her complaint and requested the court to order him to pay maintenance for the child if he does not marry her.
Chamika Karunaratne, a suspect in the incident, did not appear in court yesterday and the lawyer representing him stated that he would appear in court at the next hearing due to his illness.
Considering the arguments presented by the lawyers representing the complainant flight attendant and suspect Chamika Karunaratne, the Magistrate fixed the case for re-call on December 8th.
