Monkeys also enter our house, but it is a beautiful experience, says the acting director general of wildlife conservation

A herd of monkeys has been causing problems at the Kaduwela residence of the acting director general of the Department of Wildlife Conservation. The herd of monkeys visits the house at least once a week and recently tried to enter the bedrooms of the director general’s daughters and steal their belongings.

Witnesses to the incident say that the monkeys open locked doors and engage in various destructive activities in the rooms. Acting director general Ranjan Marasinghe has also confirmed these incidents.

He has stated that about 25 monkeys visit his house every week and that these monkeys create fear among the family members. He stressed that despite the problems, these visits of the monkeys are not considered threatening and that they are seen as beautiful experiences of nature.

This incident is a factor in the increasing monkey population in urban and suburban areas.
