The results of the 2024 general election, which has been held for about 06 weeks in India, have now been announced and Narendra Modi has obtained the required majority to be re-elected as the Prime Minister of India for the third time.
However, instead of the two-thirds majority he expected, this time he got a minority victory.
According to the 2019 election results of the Indian Parliament consisting of 543 seats, Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party had 352 seats. It has fallen down to 291 seats this year.
272 seats are needed to get a majority in the Indian Parliament, while the BJP main NDA alliance managed to get 291 seats. Rahul Gandhi’s Congress-linked INDIA alliance managed to secure 233 seats.
In this election, the alliance supported by Modi was waiting for 400 seats.
