Minister Kumara Jayakody provides lubricants to fishermen

Bringing relief to the fishing community, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has initiated a new program to distribute high-quality “Cypetco Lubricants” at the fishing harbors with the support of the Ceylon Fisheries Harbors Corporation.

Accordingly, fishermen will now be able to purchase American quality certified lubricants for their fishing vessels from the fishing harbor premises.

The first step in this was initiated today at the Dikowita Fishing Harbor, and in the future, it is planned to provide lubricants, especially for multi-day fishing vessels, at 25 fishing harbors established throughout the country, in a way that will provide relief to the fishing community.

The inaugural ceremony of this program held at the Deewara Port in Dikovita was also attended by Energy Minister Engineer Kumara Jayakody and Marine Resources and Fisheries Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekaran.

Speaking at the event, Energy Minister Engineer Kumara Jayakody said that the profits received through government institutions will be used to provide relief to the people and develop infrastructure. He said that a program will be prepared in the future to ensure that the kerosene subsidy provided to the fishing community will definitely be received by the fishermen themselves and that steps will be taken to prevent illegal transactions related to it.

Furthermore, he said that as a state-owned institution, Cipetco lubricant products, which are manufactured through a high-quality production process, have obtained international quality certificates and their quality has been confirmed, and he strongly urges the fishing community as well as other vehicle users to use those products.
