Sri Lanka’s most senior cricketer Angelo Mathews has decided to retire from international Test cricket.
He has announced on his social media account that he will retire from Test cricket after the first Test against Bangladesh in June. However, he said that he will be available for further ODI cricket whenever his support is needed.
Mathews, who made his Test debut against Pakistan in 2009, remains Sri Lanka’s third-highest Test run scorer.
He has scored 8,167 Test runs, behind only Kumar Sangakkara (12,400) and Mahela Jayawardene (11,814). Mathews, who is currently 37 years old, has 16 centuries and 45 half-centuries.
