Many police chiefs were transferred. Deshabandhu starts work

Acting Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Thennakoon immediately transferred 19 police officers including a Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG), 7 Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), 9 Senior Superintendents of Police and two Assistant Superintendents of Police. The police said that these transfers were given as per the approval of the National Police Commission.

This marks the first round of transfers since Mr. Thennakone took over as Acting Inspector General of Police.

Accordingly, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police U.P.A.D.K.P. Karunanayake has been transferred from Ratnapura District as the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Uva Province, while the womens Senior Superintendent of Police R.A.D. Miss Kumari has been appointed as the Director of Computer Crime Investigation Division from Police Headquarters.

The DIGs who have been transferred are as follows.

D.P. Chandrasiri was appointed as DIG in charge of Galle District from the position of DIG in charge of Field Force Headquarters.
G.I.D.R. Wijesinghe from Galle district as DIG in charge of Field Force Headquarters.
D.V.P. Ajith Hesiri from the post of DIG in charge of Recruitment and Training Division to DIG in charge of Special Security Division.
A.S.P.C. Vedamulla From the position of DIG in charge of Shipping and Tourism Division to DIG in charge of Kurunegala District.

Acting DIG H. Samudrajeewa has been transferred from the position of DIG in charge of Western Province Community Police, Environmental Protection and Public Order Management Division to DIG in charge of Shipping and Tourism Division.

Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police H.C.A. Pushpakumara has been transferred from the Grievance Division to the DIG in charge of the Recruitment and Training Division.

Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police. WP de Silva has been transferred from the Prime Minister’s Security Division to the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Prime Minister’s Security Division.

Senior Superintendent of Police D.M.M.A.B. Mahagirilla has been appointed as the director of the transport division of the National Police Training Institute.

Senior Superintendent of Police K.G.P.B. Samarapala has been transferred from the position of Director of Service Training Division to Director of Criminal Intelligence Analysis and Prevention Division.

Senior Superintendent of Police S.M.K.C. Thilakaratne has been appointed as the Director of Headquarters Administration attached to the Police Headquarters from Mulathivu Division.

Senior Superintendent of Police R.G.A.B. Gunathilaka has been transferred from the Transport Division to the officer in charge of Gampola Division.

Women Senior Superintendent of Police P.G.J.M. Aryasena has been transferred from the Examination Division to the Director of the Inspector General Secretariat Division.

Senior Superintendent of Police R.M.P.N. Ratnayake has been appointed as the Director of Tourism Police Division from the position of Senior Superintendent of Police of Gampola Division.

Senior Superintendent of Police R.A.D.E.L. Randeniya has been transferred from the post of Director of the Computer Crime Investigation Division to the Director of the Homicide and Organized Crime Division.

Senior Superintendent of Police M.D.P. Dayaratne has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Ratnapura District from the Information Division of the Inspector General Command.

Senior Superintendent of Police W.A. Somaratne has been transferred from the Welfare Division to the Director of the Information Division of the Inspector General of Police Command.

Assistant Superintendent of Police DMNC. Somesinghe has been appointed as the Acting Director of the Legal Department of the Kandy Division
