Manusha’s anticipatory bail application withdrawn

With the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) having submitted to the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court that no evidance have been laid for the arrest of former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara, his lawyers have moved to withdraw the anticipatory bail application filed by the former Minister.

A petition was filed by a panel of lawyers including President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris on behalf of the former Minister before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court seeking the issuance of an anticipatory bail application.

A notice was issued to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to consider it, and accordingly, the CID presented its opinion before the Colombo Chief Magistrate on the 20th.

At that, the CID stated that it was not possible to uncover any reasonable grounds to arrest the former Minister during its investigations.

Yesterday, the former minister appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department and gave a six-hour statement.
