Actress Queen of Sri Lankan cinema, Malini Senehelatha Fonseka passed away this morning.
She was 78 years old when she passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo due to an illness. Born on April 30, 1947 in Kelaniya, she was educated at St. John’s College, Nugegoda and Kelaniya Gurukula College.
She started her acting career as a stage actress and entered the cinema by acting in the film ”Punchi Baba”. She has won numerous awards including the Sarasavi Awards and entered the directorial role by directing the film ”Sasara Chethana”.
She also entered parliament in 2010, representing the United People’s Freedom Alliance.
She was 78 years old at the time of her death.
