Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura today (23) ordered that the case against former MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage, former Sathosa Chairman, former Industries Minister Nalin Ruwanjeewa Fernando, Chaminda Harshajith, a former Sathosa Chairman and former Secretary to the Ministry of Sports, retired Army Major General Nandasiri Mallawarachchi, be recalled on October 29 for the advice of the Attorney General.
They are accused of having spent Rs. 39 million from the Ministry of Sports during the 2015 presidential election to purchase 1,000 carrom boards and 1,000 dam boards and provided sports equipment to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party branch offices.
When the case was taken up regarding the incident, former Minister and Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage, former Sathosa Chairman, former Industries Minister Nalin Ruwanjeewa Fernando, and Chaminda Harshajith appeared in open court.
