Mahinda, Ghota, Basil, Cabral are suing the businessmen for compensation

A businessman affected by the country’s economic crisis has asked a compensation of 50 million rupees from former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, former Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, former Central Bank Governor Ajit Nivard Cabral and others.

The businessman states in his letter that the above-mentioned persons and the Central Bank’s Monetary Board have been held responsible for the economic crisis by the Supreme Court decision No. SC FR 195/2022.

If the money is not paid with interest within two weeks, legal action will be taken against the said persons.

Kalinga Silva, a businessman engaged in the production of disposable surgical instruments, sent these request letters through lawyer Pramod Polpitiya.

He says that during the period from 2019 to 2022, due to the mishandling of the economy, he was unable to carry on his business activities, resulting in a loss of 100 crore rupees
