A lorry carrying a carefully concealed stock of explosives has been seized by Hatharakotuwa Police officers on the Habarana-Trincomalee main road.
When the Hatharakotuwa Police officers stopped the lorry carrying the explosives and inspected it, they found a bag containing a high-powered gunpowder called C4, which was carefully concealed in the dashboard of the lorry. It is reported that it contained a stock of gunpowder weighing 156.07 grams. The driver of the lorry, who was allegedly transporting the gunpowder, has also been arrested, the police said.
The investigation revealed that the explosives were planned to be taken from the Kantale area to the southern area. The suspect and the lorry are scheduled to be produced before the Bakamuna Tourist Magistrate’s Court today.
